OBRA & Ride With GPS Classic Route Challenge

We would like to announce our next contest with Ride With GPS. Without racing, we are continuing to think of new and different ways to encourage our great OBRA members to spend time on the bike.

For August our contest will be who can ride the most vintage/classic OBRA courses from yesteryear over the entire month.

The first step to taking part in this competition will be joining our OBRA group on Ride With GPS by clicking here. This will allow you to see all of the course options you have to ride over the month.

  • If you plan on traveling to ride to any of these courses please be aware of how these communities are handling CoronaVirus and what rules they have set in place to mitigate the spread of the virus.
  • If you plan on riding any of these courses with other people, please make sure to bring your mask, keep 6 feet distance, and only ride with people in your social circle.
  • Click here to view our recommended bike list for every course

We will have two options to compete in the Classic OBRA Route Contest.

  1. Ride the most courses on our Ride With GPS route list.
  2. Who can ride the most mileage in total only on our Ride With GPS courses? You can ride 100 laps of one course, 1 lap of every single course on the list, or any combination in-between. Just make sure if you’re trying for total distance, you are only riding on our designated courses.

Categories are as follows and will be based on your OBRA racing age. There will be a winner for each of these categories under each option above for 8 total winners.

  • Open
  • Open Women
  • U18
  • U18 Women

After you ride one of the courses (either for total mileage or total courses), you must email Chuck, Jen, and Joel ckenlan@obra.org, jfeatheringill@obra.org, and jfletcher@obra.org with your Strava or Ride With GPS file to be verified and counted towards your total.

If you have any questions, feel free to send Chuck, Jen, and Joel an email as well.

A couple of important notes.

  • Only complete courses will be counted towards your total routes or total mileage. If you don’t ride the complete course as listed on the OBRA Ride With GPS page, your route and/or mileage won’t be counted. Both of these options have nothing to do with the speed or time of riding the courses. Total courses rode and total mileage on our courses ridden are what matters.
  • To qualify to prizes, you must be an active OBRA member. You are welcome to compete in the contest and will be counted towards results but only active OBRA members will be eligible to win prizes.
  • The results will be posted on the OBRA website. You can view results from the Wy’East-ing Challenge from July here: obra.org/events/27414/results.

We will have more great prizes from Castelli Cycling, Giant Bicycles USA, and Skratch Labs.
