Promoter Information

New promoter?

Are you a promoter that is interested in putting on an OBRA race?  Have questions?  Your first stop is to read the promoter’s handbook.

Event submission

Once you have determined you will be putting on an event, submit your date request using this form.

Marketing services

We have hired a new marketing coordinator Joel Fletcher to assist OBRA and promoters with marketing.  He can be reached at marketing@obra.org.  We also have many toolsets to help you market and get feedback.  We maintain an e-mail list with over 8,000 e-mail addresses of racers that have opted-in.  We also have a subscription to surveymonkey.  If you would like to conduct a survey or access the e-mail list, please let us know.

Online registration

Each promoter can choose to use their own online registration service.  However, OBRA does have its own online registration service.  For more information visit the online registration information page on the main OBRA site.

Race flyer service

OBRA now has created a platform where you can create your race flyer using the powerful tools and templates of WordPress. Your flyers will be housed on the industry site.  If you would like to gain access to these tools, e-mail kenji@obra.org for permission to be an author.  If you would like to have us design your race flyer, this service is available for a base price of $50.

OBRA First Aid

When promoters choose to utilize OBRA First Aid (available in select areas)- you get a program that assists riders when a rider gets injured. They get your wounds cleaned and bandaged. The program only charges for the time of the first aid provider. All supplies are provided by OBRA at no extra charge to the promoter or racer. Contact mike.murray@obra.org for details.

Forums

We have created a forum for promoters to discuss issues.  You will need permission to access our promoter forums.

FAQ

How long do I need to keep waivers?

You need to hold onto waivers for 3 years.

Do I need to sell memberships?

Yes, promoters are required to either sell directly or arrange to have one day licenses and annual memberships sold at their event(s).

What are additional insureds?

An additional insureds are the people or entities who also need to be covered by insurance. Property owners, government agencies and sponsors often request coverage.

What are the insurance limits?

Our limits are $1 million each occurrence with a $2 million aggregate limit. We also carry a $1 million/$1 million umbrella policy so our limits are effectively $2 million/$3 million. Waiver of subrogation available for $100 per certificate. Primary and non-contributory coverage available for $100. These fees are in addition to the regular insurance surcharges.

Does OBRA cover medical?

No. To do so would cause insurance rates for all promoters to increase dramatically

Am I allowed to refuse entry to anyone?

Yes.  As the event promoter, you are allowed to deny entry to racers.  However, be aware that OBRA does have a non-discrimination policy.

I only need a couple pieces of equipment. Can I get a reduced rate?

No. We do not rent out equipment piece-meal unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Do you rent equipment to non-OBRA events?

Yes we do. You will be required to sign an agreement, provide a deposit, pay a check in and check out fee, and pay a per participant fee of $1.50 per participant per day.
